Cat and Kittens Live in Hole Between Buildings Until Neighbors Spot Them and Jump in to Help

A cat and her kittens were living in a hole between buildings until kind neighbors spotted them and jumped in to help.

When concerned residents noticed a mother cat and three kittens tucked into a hole between two buildings, they immediately sought help.

The den was cold and dirty, near some garbage cans. Leanne, a volunteer with Whiskers-A-GoGo (a cat rescue), received a call about the feline family and rushed to rescue them first thing the next morning.

"These little gray and white kittens were already starting to climb out of the hole and onto the sidewalk near a busy street. There was no time to waste," Leanne shared.

"We were there in less than 24 hours, and with the help of tuna, baked chicken, and a neighbor with a screwdriver to move the garbage bins, we trapped the mom and scooped up the kittens."

Since the kittens were so young, they quickly warmed up to people and didn't mind being held, though their mom stayed cautious.

"They settled in really well, and the mom (aka Bay Ridge Mama) didn't give me any grief when I weighed them every day. She did stand at the door and stare me down. An occasional hiss just to remind me who's boss."

Bay Ridge Mama had a ravenous appetite, polishing off every dish while attentively feeding her hungry trio.

"She cleans them, cuddles them. Sometimes, she takes a break on top of the little hiding box while the kittens are resting."

Before long, the kittens mastered the litter box, making their foster mom very proud. With their newfound energy and zest for life, they began playing, wrestling, and climbing on top of the box to sneak attack and pounce on each other.

A few days after bringing the feline family home, Leanne found four gray kittens strewn in front of a house. It was cold and windy outside, and despite waiting all day, their mother never returned. Leanne stepped in and took them home.

"I introduced them to Bay Ridge Mama, asking her very politely if she wouldn't mind feeding four more mouths. She took care of them right away."

All through the night, Leanne bottle-fed the newborn kittens while the protective surrogate mom supervised. "She made some growly noises and just sat there, staring me down when I fed them. When I gave them back to her, she cleaned them up."

"Even her kittens cuddled with them."

Bay Ridge Mama has slowly adjusted to indoor life; she no longer hides and feels completely at ease around her foster mom. "She likes to be pet, likes scritches behind the ears, on her back, and the base of her tail. She even leans into it."

Leanne and her team never stopped searching for the gray kittens' mom. With patience, they eventually brought her to safety and reunited her with her brood.

The Bay Ridge kittens have grown by leaps and bounds. They've also discovered their voices and aren't shy about using them. Each day, they grow bolder and more adventurous, ready to take on the world with their endless mischief.

Soon, they will be scampering around their new playpen like tiny whirlwinds.

Bay Ridge Mama contentedly watches from the sidelines as her little ones transform their space into their personal amusement park.

Whenever Leanne enters the room, Mama walks right up to her, ready for a snack or a fresh plate of food.

Day After They Bring Cat to Shelter, Her Six Kittens Arrive, But This Time She Won't Have to Do It Alone

via Day After They Bring Cat to Shelter, Her Six Kittens Arrive, But This Time She Won't Have to Do It Alone

The day after they brought a cat to the shelter, her six kittens arrived. But this time, she wouldn't have to do it alone.

Earlier this month, Garden, a beautiful calico cat, found herself in an animal shelter, heavily pregnant.

The day after she arrived, she gave birth to six kittens and desperately needed a foster home. Best Friends Animal Society (in LA) stepped in to help, giving the family of seven a chance to thrive.

"Garden was sweet and trusting on day one with me. She let me pet and brush her," Jan, the foster mom, shared with Love Meow.

Garden was relieved to escape the stress and noise of the shelter for a quiet, cozy space to raise her young. Caring for six kittens is no easy feat, but she didn't have to do it alone this time.

The kittens (Glisten, Glimmer, Glow, Geranium, Golden Poppy, and Grove) nestled against their doting mom who kept them nourished and clean.

Jan looked for signs from the mom to ensure she was comfortable with her handling the kittens. "I took it slow, but she seemed to have no problem with me picking them up to be weighed on the second day (they were three days old then)."

All six kittens were plump and healthy, a true testament to their mom's dedication.

"It made a huge difference that she gave birth in a warm and clean shelter instead of outside."

Garden moved from the carrier into a larger nest prepared for her. She settled onto the soft blankets with her babies nestled beside her, purring in approval. Whenever she needed a break, she turned to her foster mom for affection.

She tried her first treat from her foster mom and eagerly gobbled it up. "At first, she wasn't sure how to eat it, but after she chomped it and squished out a bunch of the treat into her mouth, she loved it."

With two girls and four boys, Garden had her paws full.

"Six babies are a lot of mouths to feed, but Garden seems to not mind it. I can tell she likes me to help them go potty. Usually, she takes a break after cleaning up after one or two. I don't mind helping her—six babies is a lot."

A few days later, the kittens began to open their eyes and see the world for the first time.

Golden Poppy (house panther) was the first to peek out, taking in the world, and soon, his siblings followed. "Kittens usually start opening their eyes around 8-10 days old, so this boy is an early bloomer."

Even during breaks, Garden keeps a watchful eye on her kittens. "She always stays close and will go to them when they start crying. She will make a loving companion for someone when she's all done nursing her little ones (her last litter)."

The kittens have grown into happy little roly-polies. With full bellies, they sleep soundly and wake up with renewed energy.

"I highly encourage others to volunteer to foster a mom cat and babies. Garden and her sprouts have been one of the easiest fostering experiences I have had in over five years of fostering. Mom does most of the work. I just check in on her, feed her, and weigh the babies daily to make sure they are growing."

Glimmer may be the smallest, but she has a big voice and a determined spirit, always claiming the prime nursing spot.

At three weeks old, the kittens are finding their footing, strengthening their legs, and becoming more curious about their surroundings. They will soon venture beyond their nest to explore and play.

"Garden lets her babies climb all over her back and feed under her tummy even while she's trying to have a moment to herself to eat."

Thanks to many compassionate volunteers, this precious family has found a second chance. Garden is thrilled to have a loving foster mom, supporting her and ensuring her kittens grow big and strong.

Cat Greets Woman with Cutest Excitement When She Arrives to Help, Giving Him New Hope

via Cat Greets Woman with Cutest Excitement When She Arrives to Help, Giving Him New Hope

A cat greeted a woman with the cutest excitement when she arrived to help, giving him new hope.

While Donna, an animal rescuer, was caring for community cats in a neighborhood, a neighbor informed her about a cat that had been left behind.

She found the cream-colored cat sitting in a side-yard with a collar around his neck. She offered him food, hoping to gain his trust. "He has been over to eat every day since," Donna shared.

When she could approach him without him fleeing, she felt hopeful he'd soon come around.

The cat was ravenous, devouring every morsel and licking the bowl clean. The fur on his tail was matted, and he was thin under his coat.

When the cat seemed more comfortable, Donna extended her hand to see if he'd come to her. He responded with a strong head bump, then quickly returned to his food. With trust forming, she could even pet him and remove the old collar.

When Donna returned with a carrier, the cat greeted her with affectionate face rubs. He pressed his head into her hand, then rolled onto his side beside her as if pleading for a chance to go home with her.

"He's got burrs stuck to his tail. His fur is so thin, with lots of bare spots. He doesn't have the coat to be outside."

Donna opened the carrier and placed a can of food inside. Moments later, he walked right in, scarfing down his meal as she gently closed the door behind him.

His days of roaming the streets, scavenging for food, and seeking shelter were behind him as he embarked on a new journey. "It was easy to get him secured. His name is Eddie. He's now safe and off the streets."

Eddie was incredibly grateful to have a roof over his head and plenty of food. He was a good sport when Donna gave him a much-needed bath. "All the crud came off. He loved it."

After getting cleaned up, he felt so much better that he rested his head on Donna's hand, enjoying some scratches.

The sweet boy took every chance to seek affection as if making up for lost time. He snuggled with his foster dad, Randy, every night and greeted Donna each morning with enthusiastic head bumps. Knowing he deserved a loving home, Donna hoped a perfect family would soon find him.

When she brought Eddie to the vet, Krista from the clinic fell head over heels for him.

Since Krista already had three dogs (and a laid-back cat), she asked if she could foster-to-adopt Eddie to ensure their home would be the right fit for him. "She knows all about how to do the introductions slowly."

"My fingers and toes are crossed. I truly think he will be just fine."

"He's a really good boy and just wants to be by his person. He deserves it all."

When Krista and her husband arrived to pick him up, Eddie walked right up to them, seeking head scratches. He needed a full dental and other treatments, and Krista planned to bring him along to work.

Before Eddie left for his new adventures, he hopped onto the bed with Randy, nuzzling his shoulder. Then, he snuggled up to Donna as if to thank them for all they'd done.

Eddie turned out to be the perfect addition to Krista's family. He quickly settled into his new home and hit it off with his canine and feline siblings.

After his dental treatment, Eddie can now eat comfortably. He's a gentle, loyal companion, often nestling on his humans' laps or staying by their side at night.

"He's filled a hole in my heart that, honestly, I didn't know was going to be filled," Krista shared.

Cat Devoted Herself to 5 Kittens in Kennel, Everything Changes for Better When Person Takes Them in

via Cat Devoted Herself to 5 Kittens in Kennel, Everything Changes for Better When Person Takes Them in

A cat devoted herself to caring for five kittens in the shelter. Everything changed for the better when a kind person took them in.

cat mom kittens FosterKittenMama

Earlier this month, Kelsey, a tabby cat, found herself at an animal shelter with her newborn kittens, in desperate need of help.

Despite the overwhelming shelter environment, Kelsey remained steadfast in caring for her kittens. Her scrawny body bore the toll of constantly feeding five hungry mouths, trying to keep them nourished.

When Heidi Shoemaker, the founder of Foster Kitten Mama, heard about the family of six, she immediately offered them a safe haven.

With the help of several volunteers, Kelsey and her one-week-old kittens safely arrived at their foster home. All five kittens were plump and healthy, a testament to their mom's dedication and unconditional love.

She enveloped her babies in her fur, keeping them warm and protected as they nursed.

A quick check on Kelsey revealed how thin she was under her fluffy coat. The mother immediately dove into a bowl of food while continuing to nurse her babies. She never stopped caring for them even for a second.

"I'm so happy she doesn't have anything to worry about and has endless food," Heidi shared.

The kittens quickly displayed their feisty side, jostling for the best spot while nursing.

Whenever Kelsey took a moment to eat or use the litter box, the kittens would cry out, demanding her attention until she hurried back. When Heidi came in for their daily weigh-in, the tiny bundles gazed up at her all at once, alert and curious.

"Kelsey has been taking excellent care of her babies. She just stays in the nest and rests while feeding them."

In just a few days, the five kittens grew in size and strength. They explored their nest, standing on their tiptoes to peak over the edges. They even attempted to clamber over, though they hadn't quite figured out how to jump yet.

They were early bloomers, reaching every milestone ahead of schedule, prompting their foster mom to move them to a more spacious playpen.

London and Berlin, both tuxedos, look nearly identical except for a white chin patch (London). Sydney and Paris, the petite tabbies, are never shy about voicing their opinions. Rome, the sleek house panther, is the only boy and has four sisters to contend with. "He is the biggest and has the longest fur."

As the kittens sought to venture beyond their nest, Heidi introduced them to their new space. One by one, they waddled out, inspecting every corner while Kelsey kept a watchful eye, ensuring they didn't wander too far.

London quickly discovered the water and food station, curiously sipping from the big bowl and nibbling on some of Mom's food.

The kittens continue to grow and learn each day, with Kelsey gently guiding them through every new experience. Sydney and Paris, her little mini-mes, follow in her paw steps, honing their feline skills.

With newfound energy, the kittens now spend more time wrestling with each other, climbing cat posts, and getting into all sorts of mischief.

Kelsey is grateful to have a safe, comfortable place to raise her young, away from the rowdy shelter and free from the fear of hunger.

She fills the room with her soothing purrs as she nurtures her kittens, knowing they are in great hands.
