A woman planned to adopt a pair of kittens but ended up leaving with three in her arms—the best outcome ever.

A woman was set on adopting two kittens from her local rescue, Foster Kitten Mama, but a third playful kitten caught her eye.

It all began when Heidi Shoemaker, the founder of the rescue, took in a heavily pregnant cat who had spent days hiding at an animal shelter. Shortly after arriving in foster care, she went into labor.

"She got here just in time. I'm so thankful I was able to get those fleas off her (before the babies were born)," Heidi shared.

The cat, Eden, gave birth to three healthy kittens, two with adorable cow markings and one solid black. They quickly latched on and nursed contentedly. Away from the constant noise of the shelter, Eden relaxed with her little ones by her side.

The kittens soon gained weight and strength. Even before their eyes opened, they were a tight-knit trio, often cuddling with their arms around each other as they nursed.

With the loving support of her foster mom, Eden became more confident in raising her babies. The trio reached many milestones and blossomed into active, plump young cats.

"Eden is still a timid girl, but I know she's going to be amazing, given enough time to decompress from her hardships of the past."

With a spring in their step, the kittens zipped around the playpen, getting into all sorts of antics. Their mama watched from the sidelines, enjoying some peace and quiet.

Noticing she was a bit shy around people, the kittens would snuggle up to her, purring as if to comfort her. Heidi knew that behind those wary eyes lay a sweet soul longing for love.

The trio (Everette, Evan, and Elysse) was a happy, lively crew. They darted around like tiny whirlwinds, scaling cat posts, swiping at toys with fierce energy, and enjoying every playful moment together.

Whenever their foster mom used the scratcher to socialize with the mama, the kittens would immediately pounce on it, treating it like their new toy.

When the family of four became available for pre-adoption, two of the kittens, Elysse and Evan, quickly caught an adopter's eye. She fell head over heels for them and planned to welcome the pair into her home.

A few days later, as Heidi continued to find homes for the remaining two, she heard back from the adopter.

The adopter couldn't stop thinking about Everette. Seeing the three happily bouncing around together and noticing their close bond, she couldn't separate them and decided to welcome one more into her home.

"She was going to just adopt the two. Then, she ended up saying she wanted all three," Heidi told Love Meow.

When the adopter arrived to pick up the kittens, the trio cuddled into her arms, purring with delight. "The adopter already has two young cats, so they are all going to have a blast together."

"It's so wonderful knowing they will always be together."

After the kittens left for their forever home, Eden continued to make progress with socialization. About a week later, her wish came true: Eden found the perfect home.

"Her adopter has adopted two other of my feral mamas who are both thriving now. One is even a lap kitty. Eden will now be forever safe and loved, and able to adapt at her own speed."

Family Opens Their Home to Shelter Kittens and Quickly Notices How Much They Depend on Each Other

via Family Opens Their Home to Shelter Kittens and Quickly Notices How Much They Depend on Each Other

A family opened their home to two shelter kittens and quickly noticed how deeply they relied on each other.

Two feline brothers, Wellie (tabby) and Wally (black) arrived at Best Friends Animal Society (in L.A.), hoping for a chance at a better life.

Wellie was nervous and confused, shivering in the corner of the kennel. His brother, Wally, was calmer and more playful, even with a ruptured eye. "They had some flea dirt on them, which led me to believe they were most likely found outside before being brought to a shelter," Frankie, their foster mom, shared with Love Meow.

Shortly after arriving at their foster home, their demeanor changed, especially Wellie's.

"They started to feel at home and comfortable soon after getting into foster. Wellie went from anxious to the cuddliest boy once he knew he was in a safe place."

He switched on his purr motor, rediscovered his squeaky meow, and eagerly sought attention. Within days, he transformed from a trembling kitten into a purr machine.

"Wellie has become a little puddle of cuddles and purrs. He is always the first to greet me with friendly meows and a snuggle. He radiates love and is no longer afraid but instead, a social butterfly who loves to be loved."

Meanwhile, Wally remained as cool as a cucumber, completely unfazed by his eye treatment.

"I am amazed at his resilience. Wally carries on as if nothing is wrong and is the happiest boy, playing with his brother without a care in the world and full of happy purrs."

Wellie showers Wally with snuggles, playfully holding him down with both arms to clean his face.

The two share an inseparable bond—you won't see one without the other. Like partners in mischief, they romp around the room, stirring up all sorts of antics. Once they wear themselves out, they curl up together and drift off to sleep.

"I love a good squeak, but the purrs when Wellie wraps himself around his brother is my favorite part."

Wellie seeks out his brother, making sure he's always near. Wally leans into Wellie for comfort, often resting his head on him like a pillow

"They love taking naps on my lap, play-fighting, climbing their scratching post, and cuddling each other. I can't think of a more picture-perfect pair to complete a home and family."

When Wally was old enough, his left eye was removed to improve his quality of life. As soon as he came out of surgery, Wellie went straight to him and nestled right beside him.

"Wellie immediately comforted his brother post-surgery, and Wally woke up purring."

"They have always been affectionate with each other and very playful, but that bond grew even more after Wally's eye surgery. Wellie really stepped up and was so protective over his brother. You could tell he knew his brother needed healing, and Wellie was the best nurse to him."

"I have never met two kittens purr so loud and consistently before in my life."

The once skittish cat has blossomed into "the world's cuddliest boy." Wellie adores being cradled by his humans, soaking up all the affection.

"No one thrives in a kennel. This is one of the reasons why fostering is so important. Wellie was always a cuddly, happy boy; he just needed the right environment for his true self to shine through."

From the very first day, Frankie hoped the two brothers would remain together. Yesterday, their dream came true.

"Wally and Wellie have been adopted together. Now, they will never have to know of a life without each other. Their mom will be spending the week getting ready for their arrival and is so excited to love and spoil them forever."

Cat Has Faced Many Winters Outside, Experiencing Home for the First Time, His World is About to Change

via Cat Has Faced Many Winters Outside, Experiencing Home for the First Time, His World is About to Change

A cat who has faced many winters outside is finally experiencing home for the first time. His world is about to change.

orange tabby cat SherlokChatonsOrphelinsMontreal

An orange tabby had been living in an unkempt yard, taking refuge among the clutter. He had survived several winters in the neighborhood, blending into the landscape and the pile of trash.

When the cold became unbearable, he would shield himself with broken furniture, seeking warmth. Living off scraps left for local strays, "he remained a loner, always elusive," Celine Crom of Chatons Orphelins Montreal shared with Love Meow.

One day, a Good Samaritan, Veronique, noticed the cat had an "injured eye" and reached out to the rescue community for help.

Jess, an animal rescuer, responded immediately to the call. They set up a humane trap with food, and before long, the cat, too hungry to resist, walked right in. "The cat was frightened and wouldn't let anyone near him, but he was finally safe and spent his first night in warmth."

They lovingly named the tabby "Sherlok," and his days of roaming the streets and enduring the bitter cold finally came to an end.

"Sherlok, who is FIV+, has a white spot in his left eye from an old injury he got while living as a stray. He stayed with his rescuer (Jess), where he was warm and well-fed, though he remained very timid and hid for a long time."

For weeks, he would hiss and swat whenever Jess tried to get close, but she never gave up on him.

Over time, she realized he was hard of hearing and, hence, easily startled. She tried a gentler approach to socializing him, gradually showing him that humans could be trusted. It took some time, but he slowly began to come out of his shell.

Jess worked patiently and diligently to gain his trust, all while searching for a rescue group that could provide him with the care he needed.

Celine and her team at Chatons Orphelins Montreal welcomed Sherlok into their rescue and arranged a foster home for the deserving boy.

"He allowed the vet to examine him even though his heart was beating out of his chest. One of his eyes has an old wound (that has healed, leaving a cloudy patch of scar tissue), but he can see perfectly well with the other eye."

"His hearing appears to be very limited. After treating him for a mild upper respiratory infection, he started his new journey in his foster home, where he would be loved and pampered."

Sherlok was estimated to be seven years old. His life had been about avoiding people, but for the first time, he learned to embrace and enjoy human affection.

"After all the time alone and injured outside, he is finally on the other side of the window."

Once he adjusted to his new abode, his beautiful personality began to shine. Each day, he inched closer to his foster parents until he was right beside them. Eventually, he rested his paws on their laps, snuggled close, and drifted off to sleep.

The fear in his eyes has faded away, replaced by the most serene look. He has blossomed into a full-time lap cat, always eager to snooze on his humans.

For many years, he only knew how to protect himself from danger. Now that he no longer has to worry about food and shelter, he can relax and be himself. The true cuddle bug within him, which had been dormant all these years, is now in full bloom.

"Sherlok thrives on tenderness and love. He's thankful for his new life, where he feels safe and warm."

He's made a complete turnaround from a timid cat hiding among the clutter and fighting for survival to a cuddly teddy bear basking in all the love and attention from his humans.

Sherlok is ready to be the heart of a loving home where he will be cherished and worry-free for the rest of his life.
